ISG Des Moines Office Adds Seasoned Design Professionals to Innovative Team

Since opening its doors in July 2014, the ISG Des Moines office is rapidly expanding to accommodate the positive growth and project additions in the metro market. ISG is pleased to announce the recent hire of two highly regarded design professionals, structural engineer Brad Penar, PE and architect David Hofmann, AIA, NCARB, complimenting the innovative talents of ISG’s present Iowa team. Brad joins the Structural Engineering Group and David will lead ISG’s Healthcare Market efforts within the Architecture Group.

Brad’s diverse structural engineering experience encompasses work on a wide range of facilities including schools, healthcare clinics, high-rise condominiums, parking structures, manufacturing plants, pedestrian bridges, and retail centers for both new construction and renovations. With a passion for innovation, Brad looks for unique tools that can enhance client projects, utilizing 3D scanning and outside-the-box approaches to find a truly unique solution. His experience also includes building condition studies and structural failure investigations, analysis and design of shallow and deep foundation systems; reinforced concrete, masonry, wood, light-gauge steel, and steel building systems.

Brad is a member of several professional organizations including the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), Structural Engineering Institute (SEI), Structural Engineers Association of Iowa (SEAIA), American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC), and the American Concrete Institute (ACI), as well as local volunteer organizations.

David has served as a project architect with over 20 years of experience in all phases of design from master planning and programming through construction documentation and administration. He has expertise in healthcare as well as commercial, retail, and institutional design. David is known for his work as a project architect overseeing all aspects of project development. He has a keen ability to effectively communicate with clients and guide them through the project process from contract negotiations through construction focusing on their needs.

David is a member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) and the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB). His community involvement includes serving as a past president of the Rotary Club of Greater Des Moines and is presently a member of the Greater Des Moines Leadership Institute’s Community Leadership Program.
