INVISTA will launch its new TORZEN® High Viscosity PA66 resins at Fakuma, as the company continues to develop a portfolio of engineered PA66 resins aimed at solving today’s marketplace needs. The new high viscosity resins combine wear resistance with durability, and have good retention of molecular weight during processing – a distinct advantage for demanding processing methods.
“Through customer insights, we recognized a gap in the marketplace for a resin that brought toughness and wear resistance for a number of specialty applications, which are commonly known to be challenging during processing,” said Matt Osborne, global business manager, INVISTA Nylon Polymer. “Our team was able to create multiple grades of different viscosities to help solve that challenge. Now injection molders, extruders, film producers and compounders have a new option for these highly versatile products.”
The initial launch includes several grades with relative viscosities ranging from 80 to 360. Additionally, some grades are available with the heat stabilization and lubricant to further add advantages in processing and end-use applications.
Benefits of the TORZEN® High Viscosity resins include:
- Wear resistance and durability
- Resistance to many solvents, oils and chemicals
- Stable melt viscosity to allow wide processing window
- Retention of molecular weight during processing
While many applications could benefit from the high viscosity feature, the company will target specialty applications such as monofilaments (brushes, fishing line), cast and high-strength multilayer films, stock shapes and rods through extrusion, as well as gears, chain tensioners and rail isolators. The resins are also available as a compounding feedstock.
TORZEN® High Viscosity PA66 resins are available for sampling and qualification. More information about the new line—including data sheets and Yellow Cards—is available at www.EPS.INVISTA.com.
