IEEE, the world’s largest professional organization dedicated to advancing technology for humanity, today announced the recipients of the 2015 IEEE Standards Association (IEEE-SA) Awards, which were presented at the annual awards ceremony on Sunday, 6 December 2015, at The Palace at Somerset Park, Somerset, New Jersey, USA.

IEEE-SA Awards honor recipients for their prominent participation in standards development. The 2015 IEEE-SA categories and awardees include:

  • J. Patrick Reilly, IEEE Life Fellow
    For extraordinary contribution to establishing the IEEE-SA as a world-class leader in standardization

IEEE-SA Emerging Technology Award

  • IEEE Robotics and Automation Society (RAS) Ontologies for Robotics and Automation Working Group
    For the initiation, advancement or progression of a new technology through the IEEE-SA open consensus process

IEEE-SA Distinguished Service Award:

  • Peter Balma, IEEE Fellow
    For outstanding and dedicated service to the IEEE-SA Standards Board based on major contributions to the standards development process

IEEE-SA Lifetime Achievement Award:

  • Mick Seaman, IEEE Member
    For significant technical contributions to a standards committee or their IEEE field of interest

IEEE Charles Proteus Steinmetz Award

  • Steve M. Mills, IEEE Senior Member
    For contributions to the development of standards in the field of electrical and electronics engineering
