Honda Canada Statement on Trans-Pacific Partnership
October 5, 2015 | By Business Wire News
MARKHAM, Ontario
Honda Canada congratulates the Government of Canada for concluding a landmark international trade agreement – the Trans-Pacific Partnership.
Honda Canada encourages the negotiation of free trade agreements aimed at levelling the global playing field. Given the challenges of negotiating a complex agreement among twelve nations, the five-year tariff phase-out included in the agreement for passenger vehicles and the rule of origin requirements are reasonable outcomes.
While Honda Canada continues to support free trade agreements for both the importing and exporting of vehicles (and sourced parts), 96% of the company’s vehicles sold in Canada are manufactured in North America, including two assembly plants in Alliston, Ontario.
