October 1, 2015 | By Business Wire News

MARKHAM, Ontario

Honda Canada Inc. today reported an increase of 16 percent in September 2015, on sales of 17,441 units by the Honda and Acura divisions combined, breaking a nine-year-old record and surpassing 17,000 units sold for the third consecutive month. The Honda Automobile Division reported September sales of 15,201 units, up 14 percent over last year. The Acura Division reported September sales of 2,240 units, up 35 percent over last year. Both divisions set all-time records for the month, attaining September sales unseen since 2006.

“We are working hard to keep up with strong demand for our light trucks, as the versatile and functional CR-V and Pilot SUVs continue to alter the monthly record books,” said Dave Gardner, senior vice president of operations, Honda Canada Inc. “The Honda Civic, Canada’s best-selling passenger car, sustains its push for an eighteenth consecutive year at the top, with another strong month in September. The Civic story will only get better, as we prepare to launch the next generation later this year with great anticipation.”

“The innovative and dynamic RDX continues to boost Acura sales with its fifth consecutive month of record-setting numbers. Both Acura sedan and SUV products reached double digit sales growth, proving the Acura brand is resonating with the Canadian luxury buyer,” said Gardner.

September Highlights:

  • Canadian-built Honda CR-V rolled on to its fourth straight monthly record and the fifth in six months, posting a 27% gain on sales of 3,746 units.
  • Honda Pilot sales rose 97% in September with 951 units sold, breaking a monthly sales record for the sixth consecutive month.
  • Acura sales growth was led by the success of TLX at 647 units sold, a year-over-year increase of 70%
  • Acura RDX continued its gains, jumping 31% on 637 units sold, setting a fifth consecutive monthly record
