Hibernia Networks and TE Connectivity’s SubCom Business Win the 2016 Global Telecoms Business Innovation Award for Fixed Infrastructure

The award was given in recognition of the new industry benchmark established for lowest latency network performance between North America and Europe enabled by the new transatlantic cable system, Hibernia Express.

The Global Telecoms Business Innovation Awards celebrate the most innovative projects across multiple award categories; including, Fixed Infrastructure Innovation, Wireless Infrastructure Innovation, Wholesale Service Innovation, Business Service Innovation and Consumer Service Innovation. The awards are designed to celebrate a collaboration between operators and vendors and recognize projects, not products.

Hibernia Express, completed in September 2015, traverses the shortest fiber-optic path across the Atlantic Ocean. The cable’s state-of-the-art engineering design resulted in a reduction of more than five milliseconds in network latency performance on the London to New York route compared to the next fastest cable, enabling customers to more efficiently run latency sensitive applications including split second financial transactions, delivery of media-rich content to end users, and machine-to-machine computing.
