Head-Up Display Shipments Will Total 182 Million Units by 2025, According to Tractica

Head-up displays (HUDs) are information displays that are projected into the user’s or wearer’s field of vision to allow a seamless superimposition of relevant operational information and real-world elements. According to a new report from Tractica, cumulative worldwide shipments of HUDs will reach 182.9 million units during the period between 2015 and 2025. The market intelligence firm forecasts that annual HUD shipments will increase from 2.7 million units in 2015 to 36.0 million by 2025, representing a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 29.6%. These volumes will create an annual market of $13.1 billion by the end of the forecast period.

Kirkpatrick adds that the two largest application markets for HUDs will be the automotive and wearable segments, but there will continue to be niche markets for HUDs in maritime applications, and steady usage of HUDs in the aerospace market, where the technology got its start.
