September 15, 2015 | By Business Wire News

NATIONAL HARBOR, Md.

(Harris Booth # 1109) — Harris Corporation (NYSE:HRS) has received a $13 million order to supply the Air National Guard (ANG) with vehicular tactical and public safety radio systems that provide critical ground-to-air voice and data communications during wartime and domestic emergency responses, including natural disasters. The announcement was made during the Air Force Association Air and Space Conference and Technology Exposition, being held Sept. 14-16 in National Harbor, Maryland.

Each system includes multiple Harris Falcon III®AN/PRC-117G Multiband Networking Manpack Radios, the Harris AN/PRC-150 High-Frequency Manpack Radio, and Harris’ Unity®XG-100M Full-Spectrum Multiband Mobile Radio. The radios are networked with the Harris RF-7800I Advanced Vehicular Intercom System and integrated into the ANG’s High Mobility Multi-Wheeled Vehicles (HMMWV). Harris also will provide installation, training and ongoing service and support.

The five-channel Battlefield Airmen System of Integrated Communications (BASIC) system is part of the ANG’s Tactical Air Control Party (TACP), which is responsible for coordinating and calling in close air support.

“The integrated Harris system enables the Air National Guard to quickly establish communications and coordinate activities with local authorities, and rapidly deploy capabilities for tactical operations,” said Chris Young, president, Harris Communication Systems. “This system is the first TACP networked solution in a vehicle, and highlights Harris’ unique ability to integrate tactical and land mobile radio systems that bridge the needs of defense and civilian missions.”
