Research and Markets (http://www.researchandmarkets.com/research/l2l5l4/global_defense) has announced the addition of the “Global Defense Counter-IED Systems Market 2016-2020” report to their offering.

The report predicts that the global defense counter IED systems will grow at a CAGR of 1.51% during the period 2016-2020.

Through the Iraq war, the US implemented new-generation vehicles and tanks (i.e. Abrams and Bradley infantry combat vehicles) on the field to counter IEDs and mines. But, with budget decline, the US Army has decided to shift toward upgrading and modernizing existing vehicles, suspending procurement of new ones. The upgradation includes fresh components, electronic, and powerful targeting sensors for more than 1,600 Abrams tanks and 2,500 Bradley infantry combat vehicles.

According to the report, the growing tensions in MENA with increase in IED attacks is propelling the market for new investments. Globally, there were 27,000 IED attacks by June 2015 causing more than 56,000 casualties. Also, implementation of unmanned systems, governing information sharing, and training forces are some of the key drivers in the market.

Further, the report states that the US and its allies are going through a decline in their defense budget. Also, these countries are also downsizing their troops, and is posing a challenge in the market.
