Fluor Hosts Deepwater and Modular Fabrication Technology Conference

IRVING, Texas & ZHUHAI, China

Fluor Corporation (NYSE:FLR), with Offshore Oil Engineering Co., Ltd. (COOEC), hosted the Deepwater and Modular Fabrication Technology Conference on October 17 and 18, 2015, in Zhuhai, China. Fluor and COOEC recently announced a new joint venture, COOEC-Fluor Heavy Industries Co., Ltd. The joint venture company will own, operate and manage the Zhuhai Fabrication Yard on the South China Sea.

The event brought together more than 240 participants from national and international oil companies, as well as government, finance, energy, and contractor industry leaders from around the world to discuss the global deepwater and modularization market. Participants discussed critical topics such as project execution and optimization, quality control, risk management and market conditions. The event concluded with a tour of the state-of-the-art Zhuhai Fabrication Yard.

At 2 million square meters, about 500 acres, the Zhuhai Fabrication Yard is the largest in the world and was specifically designed for module fabrication with optimized material flow and process sequencing. The yard can accommodate modules weighing more than 50,000 tons, or 10 million pounds. Completion of regulatory approvals for the joint venture is targeted for late 2015.
