Ener-Core Strengthens Leadership Team with Appointments of Energy and Pollution Control Industry Veterans to Enhance Commercialization Activities

April 9, 2015 | By Business Wire News

IRVINE, Calif.

Ener-Core, Inc. (OTCQB:ENCR), the world’s only provider of Power Oxidation technology and equipment that generates clean power from low-quality and waste gases from a wide variety of industries, has appointed John Millard as Director Europe/Middle-East (EME) Region and Mark Owen as Director of Sales. Mr. Millard and Mr. Owen will both report directly to Alain Castro, CEO of Ener-Core. Mr. Millard will be based in Zurich and Mr. Owen will be based in Irvine.

Mr. Castro remarked, “John Millard and Mark Owen bring a tremendous amount of industry experience to Ener-Core, and we are privileged to have both of them serve on our management team. John Millard is a true C-level executive with whom I have had the pleasure of working for 13 years on the development of various energy projects in Europe. Ener-Core is now involved in an increasing amount of commercial opportunities with prospective customers throughout Europe, and we are also being contacted by various companies within that region that wish to partner with us. So it became apparent that we needed a senior member of our team to be based in Europe. Given John’s deep background in the energy sector and experience working with the senior executive leadership of multinational organizations, he was the ideal candidate for this position and we are confident that he will be a significant catalyst to our growth in Europe and the Middle East. Mark Owen is the first Ener-Core executive with a professional background in the pollution control industry, as most of our existing management team comes from the power industry. Hence, Mark brings unique value and expertise to the team. We intend to harness his insights extensively as we expand our sales initiatives. We continue to be impressed by the high caliber of talent we have been able to attract to the company.”

Mr. Millard has previously served as CEO of a Swiss energy consulting company focusing on demand-side energy management and most recently the development of smart energy systems. He has also worked at Enron Europe within its corporate finance operations, and worked at ABB, one of the world’s largest power and automation technology companies, as the R&D manager in their waste-to-energy division. He has provided valuation and technical due diligence services to private equity companies as well as project development consortiums on ethanol production projects, power generation from biomass and generation from pyrolysis of waste. He earned his bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from the University of Bradford, UK, and his master’s degree in business administration from London Business School.

Mr. Millard said, “I believe there is great demand in Europe and the Middle East for Ener-Core’s Power Oxidizer technology, and I look forward to catapulting our commercialization efforts in these regions. Our technology enables customers to become more financially and operationally efficient while also achieving a new standard in the reduction of air pollution. Using otherwise polluting waste gases to generate useful power and heat represents a paradigm shift for many industries that can now look to create value from their waste gas streams while reducing overall emissions and environmental compliance costs.”

Mr. Owen is an internationally recognized expert on industrial pollution control systems and processes. He has 30 years of experience in the commercialization, installation and operational servicing of various types of air pollution control and waste treatment systems within a long list of Fortune 500 companies worldwide. In addition to his career as a commercial executive, he has also been a senior project manager for several high-profile environmental projects across many manufacturing sectors including aerospace, pharmaceuticals, and oil & gas. Some of his recent projects include NGL processing, landfill leachate processing and rail-to-barge crude oil transfer stations. With his extensive environmental equipment background, his role at Ener-Core is to facilitate commercialization of the Power Oxidizer and advance deployment strategies into various waste-to-energy markets.

Mr. Owen said, “I am acutely aware of the need for new technological solutions for mitigating the waste gases produced by a wide range of industries. As a veteran within the pollution control industry, I am convinced that the Ener-Core Power Oxidizer represents an outstanding solution to this significant challenge, and I look forward to expanding our sales opportunities within these various industries.”
