EBSCO grows through two significant acquisitions: YBP Library Services and All Current Electrical Sales

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.

EBSCO Industries, headquartered atop Oak Mountain off Highway 280, is a privately held company that has seen much success over the past 70 years. Owning 24 diverse businesses, the largest of which is EBSCO Information Services, EBSCO continues to demonstrate a commitment to growth and expansion.

“We have set some aggressive growth goals. We are not only growing through acquisitions, we are driving future growth by investing in improvements within our existing businesses,” said Tim Collins, President and CEO of EBSCO. “It’s an exciting time to be a part of EBSCO.”

On February 20, 2015, EBSCO Information Services, the largest provider of research content, search services, and delivery platforms to libraries worldwide, acquired YBP Library Services, the market leader in delivering over 12 million print and digital books to academic, research and special libraries.

“This is an ideal partnership, one that is good for YBP, EBSCO, and the library community,” Collins said. “EBSCO’s growing database offerings and current full suite of journal ordering and maintenance workflow services combined with YBP’s print and e-book acquisition workflows, position EBSCO to successfully streamline and improve back-end services for libraries.”

YBP was founded in 1971 and has 300 employees, the majority of which work from their Contoocook, N.H. headquarters.

Earlier last month, EBSCO Industries also announced the acquisition of a majority interest in All Current Electrical Sales. On February 18, 2015, this New Jersey-based reseller/distributor of electrical components including conduit fittings, controls, circuit breakers, and custom electrical panel assemblies with a total of over 100,000 SKUs became a part of the diverse family of EBSCO businesses. All Current has a national footprint with eight warehouses and offices in New Jersey, Philadelphia, Houston, Chicago, Los Angeles, Baton Rouge, and Seattle.

“We are excited to welcome YBP and All Current to the EBSCO family of companies. These are mature companies with significant scale that also have strong growth potential,” Collins said. “They will help us to accelerate our growth.”
