Kenneth Meyer is just the latest acquisition to join the growing family of quality lines of the Dessin Fournir Companies. “Since founding Dessin Fournir in 1993, one of our key focuses and passions has been preserving old world craftsmanship and ensuring that the fine materials and master craftsmanship of our industry do not disappear,” said Co-Founder and CEO Chuck Comeau.
Kenneth Meyer specializes in innovative to-the-trade trim and accessories and offers a large selection of in-house designs with a vast custom capability, as well as high-quality European imports featuring unique patterns and color palettes. Although formally established in San Francisco in 1938, its origins were in pre-war Frankfurt, Germany, which Kenneth Meyer and his family fled for political reasons. Hildegard Kleinen purchased the company from the Meyer family in 1985 and has been at the helm for the last 30 years, designing and manufacturing luxurious trims for the design trade. She has a true passion for fabrics and textiles and looks upon trims as the “jewelry” which accents fabrics.
“Chuck is a visionary and he sticks by his vision,” said Kleinen. “The difficulties of manufacturing in San Francisco combined with the recession have made it a challenging business over the last few years. I’m so pleased to be handing the reins over to Chuck, who has truly found the recipe for rescuing struggling specialty firms, saving distinct art forms, and creating employment opportunities in the heartland.”
