Deb Group Enhances Sustainability of its Products by Removing All Plastic Microbeads

Today Deb took the lead and announced that its manufacturing process is now 100 percent free of plastic microbeads in North America. Its main product lines, including Deb Stoko®, DebMed® and KrestoGT™ were already free of any plastic scrubbers since their launch.

The Microbead-Free Waters Act of 2015 bans personal-care products from containing microbeads in order to help remove plastic pollution from water supplies. The law prohibits soaps, body washes, toothpaste and other personal-care products from containing plastic or bioplastic beads as of July 1, 2017. The law also prohibits the sale of products containing microbeads as of July 1, 2019.

“It is important for us to minimize our environmental footprint as much as possible. Last year, we launched the Deb Stoko range with microbead-free heavy duty cleansers. Deb’s heavy-duty cleansers use natural scrubbers, including cornmeal, olive stone and walnut shells. They have a smoother texture than pumice (safer for your skin), are biodegradable (contrarily to plastic beads) and are easily rinsed away, preventing blocked drains and pipes. So, they provide better scrubbing performance while being much gentler on the skin and safe for the environment.
