Daniel Palmier, Director of the Palmier Foundation has announced a total of $400,000 in donations to the University of Notre Dame Haiti Project as part of his ongoing commitment to their cause. The Palmier Foundation made a $200,000 pledge that leveraged a match by another donor for a total of $400,000 to complete a self-sustaining fortified salt manufacturing facility in Haiti. This facility gives Haiti independence to produce fortified salt that fights the spread of Lymphatic Filariasis and improves the overall health and well-being of the Haitian people.

The $400,000 total dollar donation is part of the expanded efforts of Daniel Palmier to continue the work of the Palmier Foundation, a nonprofit corporation established for the purpose of giving back. Included in the list of recent activities are sizeable donations to organizations such as InterVol, Brigham & Womens Hospital, the Kelly Cares Foundation, Newton Country Day School and the Wounded Warriors Project.
The Notre Dame Haiti Program was established to combat Lymphatic Filariasis (LF) through its aforementioned salt manufacturing program; mass drug administration, and clinical services/morbidity management. With more than 26% of Haiti’s population affected by the disease, the University of Notre Dame provides hope and relief to the Haitian people while living out its mission to cultivate in its students not only an appreciation for the great achievements of human beings but also a disciplined sensibility to the poverty, injustice and oppression that burdens the lives of so many.
