With just a couple weeks to go until the fifth annual Women in Manufacturing (WiM) SUMMIT, final preparations are being made for the two-day event in Minneapolis, MN. Hundreds of women professionals in the manufacturing industry are expected to attend the event for educational and professional development sessions as well as plant tours, innovation demonstrations and networking sessions.

This year’s WiM SUMMIT will feature a wide range of speakers from industry-leading companies and top women’s empowerment organizations.

Meredith Walker, co-founder and executive director of Amy Poehler’s Smart Girls and a speaker for WiM SUMMIT 2015 said, “Smart Girls is all about providing an inclusive, safe place for our community to learn more about themselves and each other. I’m delighted to be speaking at this event which knows the importance of a supportive community. At Smart Girls, we know that being curious about each other, and listening to each other makes our lives richer.”

As many as 300 women from all around the country and a wide variety of industries are expected to attend this year’s event.

“The WiM SUMMIT is an opportunity for talented women in manufacturing companies to share insights and ideas both for growth as professionals and growth as an industry,” said Dr. Cynthia Arnold, senior vice president and chief technology officer at Valspar Corporation and a speaker at this year’s WiM SUMMIT. “I will be speaking on ‘Leading an Innovative Organization’, which will explore how traditional manufacturing companies can develop innovative approaches, teams and culture.”

Registration for WiM SUMMIT 2015 is still open on the WiM website and plant tour selection is part of the SUMMIT registration.

Krista Brookman, vice president of Catalyst and a WiM SUMMIT 2015 speaker said, “I am pleased to be a part of WiM SUMMIT 2015. WiM and Catalyst share a mission of ensuring fair and equal opportunities for women and men. Both of our organizations strive for a diversified and inclusive workplace because we know that when women succeed, industry succeeds too.”

A full agenda for the WiM SUMMIT is available on the WiM website.

“Events like WiM’s annual SUMMIT are especially important in an industry in which technology is changing so rapidly,” said Pamela Wiseman, senior director of supply planning for Medtronic and a WiM SUMMIT 2015 speaker. “At events like this, there are great opportunities to forge valuable new relationships. Together we can help meet evolving customer needs and work to solve global challenges. New solutions are often born out of collaborative discussions and sharing ideas with new colleagues.”

The conference will include a number of other speakers who will offer keynote remarks and lead workshops or panel discussions. A full list of speakers is available on the WiM website.
