Conference on Recent Advances in Flame Retardancy of Polymeric Materials

May 23, 2016 | By Marketwired News

WELLESLEY, MA–(Marketwired – May 23, 2016) –  The 27th Conference on Flame Retardancy welcomes scientists and other technical specialists from around the world from May 22-25, 2016, to learn about the science, technology, design and manufacture of flame-retardant (FR) materials and coatings.

Hosted by BCC Research, the premier FR conference in the United States offers a blend of experts from government, academia, and commercial/industrial sectors who will discuss new technological achievements and developments in the FR materials market.

“BCC Research is proud to present this conference for the 27th year,” says Kevin Fitzgerald, BCC Research editorial director. “Through the efforts of Conference Chairman Chuck Wilkie and a stellar speaker lineup, we’re honored to continue the tradition established by the late Dr. Menachem Lewin and provide networking attendees with the latest technological and regulatory information in this exciting industry.”

Within a single track, the main conference includes multiple sessions in the following categories: Fabrics and Foams, coatings, intumescence, nanocomposites, sustainability, fire testing and instrumentation, and phosphorus.

Presentations will create a forum for discussing critical topics, including applications and markets for FR products, recent developments in local and global standardization in treating technology, toxicity and environmental issues, the effect of nanoparticles on flammability, regulatory issues and sustainability, further developments in the intumescent mechanism of flame retardancy, and more.

An interactive “short course” designed for technical specialists and marketers new to the industry will precede the conference on May 22, 2016. The one-day course consists of three interactive lectures by prominent industrial scientists who will provide a unique opportunity for newcomers to become acquainted with the FR field in all of its aspects.

Government regulations and industry standards obligate manufacturers to add FR chemicals to a wide range of products. As such, industry continually seeks to develop new compounds and increase the efficacy of fire retardants that will save countless lives and reduce fire occurrence. The consumption of flame retardant chemicals should see solid growth, according to 2015 BCC Research report, Flame Retardant Chemicals: Technologies and Global Markets.
