Chemence, Inc. Denies FTC Claims, Vows to Defend Lawsuit

February 5, 2016 | By Business Wire News

ALPHARETTA, Ga.

Chemence, Inc. is aware of a lawsuit filed by the Federal Trade Commission disputing the “Made in the U.S.A.” claims for certain products sold by Chemence. “These accusations by the FTC are flatly incorrect,” said Hugh Cooke, President of Chemence, Inc.

While most competitors have chosen to import and repackage adhesives from foreign suppliers, Chemence has proudly manufactured adhesives in the United States since the early 1990’s. Chemence manufactures adhesives including cyanoacrylate glues at its facility in Alpharetta, Georgia, where it has created hundreds of jobs for people in this country.

“The FTC has permitted competing companies who merely import and repackage cyanoacrylate glues to market such glue as ‘Made in USA with Domestic and Imported Material’ while pressuring actual domestic manufacturers to do the same,” said Cooke. “The FTC is attempting to punish domestic manufacturers with local employees while rewarding importers using cheaper labor abroad.”

“Chemence is disappointed that the FTC has filed this lawsuit without fully understanding the manufacturing performed by Chemence in the USA,” said Cooke. Chemence invited the FTC’s attorney handling this matter to visit its facility in Georgia to actually see the manufacturing performed there firsthand. However, the FTC declined this invitation and instead filed suit.

Chemence will vigorously defend the FTC lawsuit. Chemence is dedicated to continuing to manufacture in the United States and welcomes the opportunity to stand up for domestic manufacturers in court.
