LOS ANGELES, Nov. 27, 2015 /PRNewswire/ — This holiday, Brighton’s goal is to raise $500,000 for Little Kids Rock – a charity that is enriching the lives of children through music. The money will be used to purchase 6000 guitars for underserved schoolchildren across the U.S. 100% of the proceeds from the $20 Giving Pouches sold in their stores from November 27(th) through December 24(th), 2015 will go to Little Kids Rock. The donation will allow them to purchase the guitars for music classes to be taught to schoolchildren from K-12.

In today’s economy the arts programs have been cut from schools. This is an essential issue that everyone at Brighton feels passionate about. With the help of great charities like Little Kids Rock, the arts are now being brought back into kids’ lives. The 6,000 guitars purchased will inspire 30,000 kids and change their lives forever.

As Jerry Kohl, the company’s owner and founder explains, “When I was a kid, we had arts in school – everything from music classes with instruments to home economics and wood shop. I’m so excited to partner with Little Kids Rock as they bring the arts back into schools and help to inspire kids.”

It has been demonstrated that participation in music classes not only gives children an appreciation for the arts, it also helps them to be better students and to have a greater chance of future success. Without their music education, many of the people of Brighton feel that they would not have had the confidence to achieve what they have today.

Little Kids Rock started as a schoolteacher’s vision to give his students access to music education while diminishing budgets for the arts made that more and more difficult to do. What began as a single after-school guitar class has since exploded into a national movement that is bringing free, weekly music lessons to more than 200,000 public school children due to the efforts of more than 1,500 teachers in 29 cities nationwide. To date, Little Kids Rock has served over 400,000 students.

Little Kids Rock Founder and CEO, David Wish explains. “Brighton’s support enables us to unlock children’s inner music makers by building large scale music programs in public schools. With this latest gift, Little Kids Rock will be able to bring the lifelong gift of music education to tens of thousands of additional schoolchildren who may not have had access otherwise.”

Helping Little Kids Rock is just one of many charitable initiatives Brighton is involved in each year. As a part of #BrightonGivesBack, Brighton has donated $9.5 million to charitable organizations including the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, Soles 4 Souls and charities helping women to re-enter the workplace.

Together, by supporting this charity, we can all make a difference in the lives of children across America. To find a participating store near you, please visit www.brighton.com
