Bretford® Introduces TechGuard™ Charging Lockers

Bretford Manufacturing, Inc.®, a U.S.-based manufacturer of technology-enabled furniture for 21^st century learning and business environments, has announced TechGuard Charging Lockers, a line of powered lockers for storing, securing, and charging individual laptops, tablets, and phones. Available later this fall, the TechGuard Lockers will debut in the Bretford showroom (#355) during NeoCon, June 15-17 in Chicago, and in the Bretford booth (#2929) during ISTE, June 28-July 1 in Philadelphia.

The TechGuard Charging Lockers are designed for use in education, retail, healthcare, and business environments — or anywhere students, staff, customers, or visitors need to securely charge and store their individual devices. Available in 1-, 5-, or 10-bay configurations, each bay is equipped to hold a 15.5-inch laptop, 10-inch tablet, and a phone with the ability to charge them all at once.

“We’ve found that students and professionals typically carry at least two mobile devices. And they often find themselves, at some point during the day, needing to charge those devices,” explained Robert Gabriel, product specialist for Bretford Manufacturing, Inc. “The TechGuard Charging Lockers provide a place where they can secure and store those devices, and give their devices the charge they need.”

Inside each bay of the locker is one AC outlet and two USB charging ports, both capable of providing full-rate charging up to 2.4 Amps. Courtesy lighting illuminates the bay when the door is open, making it easy to connect devices while clear-view windows allow administrators to monitor the contents of the bays in shared environments.

Each TechGuard Charging Locker includes two administration cards for override access: the Access Card opens the locker for inspection, but keeps the current code, while the Reset Card opens the locker and resets the current code. The keypad lock is powered by the internal system power supply, eliminating the need for batteries and saving expenses and maintenance time. In the event of a power outage, the optional JumpStarter accessory allows individual bays to be accessed using the existing passcode, or administrator cards.

The TechGuard Charging Locker features a sleek steel chassis that is available in platinum, but can be customized and branded to feature school or corporate colors and logos through Bretford Customization Services (BCS).

The lockers feature heavy gauge steel and polycarbonate construction to securely store devices and deter theft. The lockers are easy to maintain and service without time-consuming disassembly, and all components are conveniently accessible from the front of the unit.

The Bretford TechGuard Lockers are Listed to UL 60950-1 for Safety of Information Technology Equipment, FCC certified and are pending GREENGUARD GOLD Indoor Air Quality certification. Bretford offers a 12-year warranty on the lockers, three years on the electrical, and one year on the keypad lock for additional peace-of-mind.
