By Business Wire News
TORONTO
Boyden, a global leader in executive search, today released a new issue of its Leadership Series, featuring an in-depth interview with Joanne Horibe, Chief Compliance Officer at global automotive supplier Magna International. Headquartered in Toronto, Magna has 313 manufacturing operations and 84 product development, engineering and sales centres in 28 countries around the world.
The new issue of the Boyden Leadership Series also includes a sidebar discussion with Kevin Gormely, Partner of Boyden Toronto’s Industrial Practice, about the critical role of ethics and compliance in building a company’s culture.
In the interview, Ms. Horibe discusses creating a culture of compliance, working within a multinational organization, auto industry consolidation, how executive search firms provide extra compliance, the importance of looking beyond traditional protocols in hiring, and the benefit of leadership activities outside of work.
“Joanne has successfully created and implemented a global ethics and compliance program that works across complex cultures and unique legal structures,” said Gormely. “Her proactive and collaborative approach has shed light on risks the automotive supplier has today and may face in the future, and created a universal culture of compliance within Magna.”
Horibe was appointed to her current role in 2013. She is responsible for the design, implementation and management of Magna’s global ethics and legal compliance program. Having more than 20 years of legal counsel experience, Horibe has built most of her career at Magna. Previously, she worked as an associate at the international law firm Baker & McKenzie. She holds bachelor’s and law degrees from The University of Western Ontario.
