Battery-Powered AutoVac Most Innovative Machine of 2015

HAMILTON, Ohio

At the 2015 ISSA/INTERCLEAN® Tradeshow, just held in Las Vegas, Kaivac’s Battery-Powered AutoVac was voted the most innovative machine among several different equipment entrants.

Making this award all the more significant, the Battery-Powered AutoVac won the award as a result of online pre-show voting. Voting at the show is invariably influenced as a result of manufacturer promotions.

The tradeshow, allows cleaning professionals – the people that are actually performing cleaning tasks in commercial buildings such as schools, office facilities, and the like – to vote on the machine that they believe is the most innovative in the industry. Winners are announced at the end of the show.

The AutoVac is an automated, high-performance floor machine used to clean floors, similar to an automatic scrubber. Studies indicate its effectiveness at removing soils and contaminants is as good as if not slightly better than an automatic scrubber.

However, unlike an automatic scrubber, the AutoVac system is far less costly to purchase, easier to operate with little training, and has far fewer mechanicals than an automatic scrubber, which means it rarely needs servicing.

“The AutoVac system has actually been out for a few years now,” says Matt Morrison, communications director for Kaivac. “However, we introduced the battery-powered system earlier this year and has been very well received by cleaning workers.”

Being battery-powered allows the cleaning professional considerably more flexibility and maneuverability. This can help reduce cleaning times, which can lower costs for building owners and managers.

As to why the machine was selected as “most innovative,” Morrison says the fact that it is now battery-powered helped. “But the fact that it can produce virtually the same cleaning results as an [automatic] scrubber at about one-fifth the cost is likely the primary reason the machine received this top award. Its ‘common sense simplicity’ is probably another.”
