Aventine Renewable Energy Names Jeff Ewing Director of Risk Management, Marketing

PEKIN, Ill.

Aventine Renewable Energy Inc. has appointed Jeff Ewing as director of risk management, marketing for the company’s four ethanol plants, including two in Pekin, Illinois, and two in Aurora, Nebraska.

Ewing began his career in commodities in 1980, and has been in the wet milling and ethanol industry as a supply chain manager and director of risk management since 2005.

“Aventine continues to focus on risk management, disciplined hedging and margin management to respond to national and international market conditions,” said Mark Beemer, Aventine president and CEO. “Jeff plays an important role in determining our strategies, using his expertise in technical analysis to forecast trends, budget revenue and expenditure metrics for short- and long-term operating, supply chain and capital commitments.”

Most recently Ewing had been director of trading and hedging with Abengoa Bioenergy in Chesterfield, Missouri, from 2011 to 2015. His prior involvement in the ethanol and wet milling industry also included serving as director of supply chain for Roquette America Inc. in Keokuk, Iowa, from 2006 to 2008, and as director of risk management for Hawkeye Energy in Ames, Iowa, from 2008 to 2011.

Earlier in his career Ewing held positions of increasing responsibility, including serving as senior manager risk and portfolio for Agriliance LLC, Inver Grove Heights, Minnesota, and as a regional manager with Farmland Industries in Kansas City, Missouri. Ewing began his career as a credit officer with Farm Credit Services in DeKalb, Illinois.

Ewing earned a bachelor of science degree in agricultural economics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a master’s in finance from Northern Illinois University in DeKalb.
