ASSE and Cintas Announce Final Countdown for Innovation Award

March 17, 2015 | By Business Wire News

CINCINNATI

The American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) and Cintas Corporation (NASDAQ: CTAS), a leading provider of safety training, personal protective equipment (PPE) and first-aid solutions, today issued a last call for applications for the 2015 Award for Innovation in Occupational Safety Management. Applications are available online and must be submitted by March 31, 2015. The winner will receive $3,000, a recognition plaque and travel and accommodations for Safety 2015, ASSE’s annual professional development conference in June 2015.

“Today, we’re surrounded by innovation wherever we turn, so it’s important to harvest this creativity to engage employees in the safety process and promote safety,” said Rick Gerlach, Director of Safety and Health, Cintas Corporation. “We’re looking forward to reading more inspiring safety stories from around the world and giving recognition to employees and organizations for embracing innovation.”

ASSE and Cintas are seeking submissions that outline a workplace challenge and an employee’s solution, which eliminates or reduces hazards, improves safety knowledge or provides efficiency improvements. The innovation must have been developed or put into place within the last five years. The judging panel will consider the innovation’s safety and management benefits, and the potential for applying the innovation across multiple programs or sites. Both ASSE members and non-members can apply, and nominations can be submitted by safety managers or employees on behalf of themselves or another individual.

“This award honors unique safety ideas, raises awareness for effective workplace strategies and encourages businesses to be proactive about safety,” said ASSE president, Trish Ennis, CSP, ARM. “We want to give employees the chance to have their efforts recognized and inspire other organizations to implement similar ideas.”

Apply online or download the award application at www.asse.org/innovate by March 31, 2015.
