MILPITAS, Calif.

Semiconductor Analytical Systems, Inc. (SAS), a supplier of high-purity electronic process chemicals and production services has opened a new analytical laboratory here to support process development and production of microelectronic devices and other high-technology products. Services include chemical analysis, detection and analysis of micro-contamination, thin film characterization, failure analysis and quality control. Process troubleshooting and R&D services also are offered.

The new laboratory is equipped with best-in-class laboratory equipment for analyzing semiconductor, magnetic disk, optical, photovoltaic (PV) and other technology products in order to determine product quality and to detect and quantify contamination present in liquid, gas and solid samples.

Problem-solving expertise is provided by the lab’s R&D department where product samples and test data are evaluated to determine the root cause of contamination and other process problems that contribute to yield loss. The department is assisted by their network of Ph.D. chemists and physicists at leading universities who can be called upon to help solve the most challenging problems. SAS has established in a period of 30 years a proven track record of success at solving a wide range of process problems. Typical assignments have been to identify and eliminate the source of contamination in a CVD reactor, to achieve uniformity and repeatability in a chemical purification process, and to investigate and recommend modifications to a dry etch process in order to achieve a anisotropic etch.
