Irwin Industrial Tool Company manufactures and distributes throughout the world professional-grade hand tools and power tool accessories for trade professionals. As part of Newell Rubbermaid, the company has the financial backing and systems support of a US$8 billion consumer products company.
This global business has a strong stable of brands, including Irwin, Vise-Grip locking pliers, Marathon saw blades, Quick-Grip bar clamps, Speedbor flat bits, Strait-Line marking tools, Unibit step drill bits and Hanson taps, dies and extractors.
The company traces its history back to 1885, when Charles Irwin patented a solid centre auger bit. In 1993 Irwin partnered with American Tool Company, a tool manufacturer founded by the inventor of Vise-Grip locking pliers. Newell Rubbermaid acquired American Tool in 2002, and a year later changed the name to Irwin Industrial Tool Company.
