Over 70 representatives from Canada’s power transmission industry attended the first annual Canadian Power Transmission Convention earlier this year in Niagara Falls, Ont. The event was organized by the Power Transmission Distributors Association (PTDA).

Research done at the MRO Expo show in Toronto last fall indicated that Canadian distributors and suppliers in the PT industry would support a local convention focused on national issues. A lower cost of attending a Canadian PTDA event also played a factor in getting the new convention underway.

Held at the White Oaks Resort May 31 to June 1, the convention attracted PT people from Alberta, Saskatchewan, Quebec and Ontario. A full agenda of speakers and presentations rounded out various social meetings and other functions.

Plans are underway for a similar event to be held in 2003, at which Machinery & Equipment MRO/mro-esource.com plans to hold its annual Ernie Bouchard Lifetime Achievement Awards and introduce the Henri Blanchette Memorial Award for the top Canadian distributor salesperson.
