Screw-driven slide attains high speeds

The RGS Rapid Guide screw from Kerk Motion Products is a value-priced screw-driven slide that offers good linear speed, accurate positioning and long life. With the company’s wide range of available leads, speeds of more than 1.5 m/s (60 ips) are possible. The slide has a compact profile that provides good torsional stiffness and stability, and the integral mounting base allows support over the entire length of the slide if desired. Lengths of up to 2.4 m (8 ft) are readily manufactured, while longer lengths are available by special order. Applications include high-speed printing, scanning and engraving, actuation and positioning in transportation applications, pick-and-place mechanisms and most automated equipment.
