Ainsworth Inc. of Toronto’s Total Plant Maintenance (TPM) program, an outsourced maintenance management program for medium to large manufacturers, is designed to reduce an organization’s operational costs and increase production system efficiency. It is built around the customer’s Key Performance Indicators, such as reducing maintenance costs and increasing equipment uptime.

This program brought substantial savings for customer Almag Aluminum in its first year. At the end of Ainsworth’s first year of managing the company’s entire maintenance program, maintenance costs were reduced by 23.6% over the previous year and 14.6% below this year’s plan.

As TPM is a performance-based solution, Ainsworth takes accountability for all aspects of Almag’s maintenance management and jointly shares in the goals of the organization as well as the financial risks.

At a recent Ainsworth Communication Breakfast, Bob Peacock, president of Almag, was presented with a reconciliation cheque representing the company’s share of the 14.6% savings on planned cost. An aluminum extruder, Almag Aluminum specializes in complex products and difficult extrusions requiring quick turnaround.
