Mini Sigma-Nip for converting and printing is an electronic nip analysis system that measures roller profiles and diagnoses roll alignment with speed, cost-effectiveness and accuracy. The system measures nip widths of rolls with circumferences smaller than 51 cm (20 in.), and also diagnoses and measures larger hard rolls that have narrow contact upon closing. The 168 microscopic sensor points that comprise each finger are densely packed within an 8.4-cm (3.3-in.) active sensing area. These sensors capture data and record nip width readings while being viewed on a computer. Adjustments to load are made in real time while the sensors are in the closed (non-rotating) nip. The system is particularly useful for continuous maintenance, as well as during equipment set-up and shut-down. Sensor Products
