Kodiak has launched its Rockfibre line of completely metal-free safety shoes and boots. The line features a metal-free, puncture-resistant protective sole plate and toecap. Also, all components such as eyelets, comfort systems and supportive shanks are metal-free. Every shoe and boot passes through a metal detector after manufacture to ensure metal-free content. This is good news for workers who have to remove their traditional boots for scanning by a metal detector before they can enter or leave their workplaces. The safety footwear passes the CSA Grade 1 requirements because its protective toecap can withstand a minimum of 125 joules impact energy, comparable to a drop weight of 22.7 kg (50 lb) from a height of 56 cm (22 in.).
