Linear Motor Line Expands to Offer More Choices

Kollmorgen has announced its expanded line of linear motors. The modular Platinum DDL series comprises a high-performance, frameless, permanent magnet brushless servomotor. Typical applications include semiconductor manufacturing, electronic assembly and measurement/inspection equipment. Two motor types are available, ironcore (high force) and ironless (low force). Ironcore motors feature peak force from 190 N to 15,600 N (43 lb-ft to 3,500 lb-ft). The motor’s high thrust forces makes it suitable for accelerating and moving high masses and maintaining stiffness during machining processes. Applications range from light, low-attraction force tables to massive CNC machine tools. Ironless motors feature peak force from 60 N to 1,600 N (13 lb-ft to 360 lb-ft) and are used for applications requiring low bearing friction, high acceleration of lighter loads and for maximizing constant velocity. Applications range from light fibre optics to X-Y semiconductor tables.
