Trilogy Systems offers a low-cost, simple-to-use linear motor encoder (LME) designed for the high-speeds, high accelerations and millions of cycles found in linear motor applications. The small read head includes the interpolation circuitry and reference mark, so its cable connects directly to the drive. The LME is easy to install and has very forgiving non-critical alignment. Gaps typically are 100% to 600% greater than optical encoders with the same resolution. The encoder uses magnetic tape technology and is impervious to dirt, moisture and grime. The company now offers these encoders as standard on all its linear motor positioners and actuators.
