Connectric Systems has introduced the Kubler Limes linear measurement and position system. Unaffected by dust and humidity, this programmable system detects position and travel direction by passing a sensor over a magnetic rule. The head provides a quadrature output which is used to determine position and direction of travel. Measuring lengths of over 100 m can be achieved with resolutions of 0.1 mm to 0.005 mm. The self-adhesive magnetic rule can be applied to metal or other surfaces. When used in conjunction with a controller/PLC, the unit can replace multiple limit switches, photoelectric controls, proximity switches, etc. It also can replace linear encoders.
