Laser system protects operators of hydraulic press brakes

LazerSafe LZS-003 is a machine safeguarding system for hydraulic press brakes. The transmitter and receiver are mounted on the ram of the press, allowing the operator to stay close to the workpiece as the tools close at high speed. This system continuously monitors the speed and stopping distance of the moving member of the machine, issuing a stop command to the machine if the crawl speed or stopping distance is exceeded. A flat band of continuous laser light detects obstructions as small as 4 mm, while still being vibration tolerant. Due to the location and size of the laser beam, multiple bends in the material are accomplished easily without interrupting the beam.
