Handling Specialty of Grimsby, Ont., is celebrating its fortieth anniversary in 2003. It has grown from a small, two-car garage to a company with two divisions and manufacturing facilities in Grimsby and Niagara Falls, N.Y.
The company was originally started to manufacture floor cranes and distribute cam lifts and Joyce screw jacks in the Toronto area. It also made small scissor lifts for export to the U.S. It soon evolved to become an expert in custom-engineered lifting, tilting and rotating products.
The company gained a high profile with the engineering, production and installation of the underwater stage lifts for the Cirque du Soleil production of “O” in Las Vegas, Nev. It even earned a Guinness World Record for producing the largest underwater hydraulic stage system — it has a one-million-pound capacity.
The company’s Engineered Products Group produces engineered-to-order lifting solutions and its Standard Products Group distributes fork truck service lifts and moving systems. For more details, visit www.handling.com.
