Igus has added a geared slewing ring bearing to its line of low-noise Iglide PRT modules. Geared PRT slewing rings are cost-effective and can be used in place of expensive ball bearings or rolling elements in many applications. The slewing ring uses self-lubricating, low-friction polymer sliding elements in place of ball bearings. The geared version features the addition of a sprocket and a toothed system to drive the slewing ring. Available in plastic, aluminum or stainless steel and ready to install, it does not require lubrication. It is suitable for all environments, in particular assembly lines, machine tools, and semiconductor and clean room applications.
