Monte Carlo, Monaco — New heads of the European Power Transmission Distributors Association (EPTDA) were elected at the General Assembly during the association’s record-breaking tenth annual convention in Monaco Sept. 19-20, 2007.

Roberto Cugnaschi, outgoing EPTDA president, handed on the torch to the newly elected board of directors. Many new initiatives were kicked off in 2007 — an ethical policy, monitoring and education opportunities. EPTDA also saw a membership growth of 18 new members since January.

The convention brought together 375 participants — including 90 first-timers, 25 international guests, 14 non-member companies and 80 spouses — from all over the world. This year’s convention also sealed EPTDA’s partnership with UNICEF Belgium when Christian Wiener, president of UNICEF Belgium, received a 12,500 donation from EPTDA.

Cugnaschi’s successor, Marcel J.N. Mak of Spruit Transmissies, Netherlands, and his new team will celebrate EPTDA’s 10th anniversary in January 2008.

The new board of directors of EPTDA plans to further establish the reputation of EPTDA and further develop existing projects — such as the charity program in partnership with UNICEF, ethical policies, fair trade, social and environmental responsibility, and education — in light of EPTDA’s new identity, which will be unveiled on Jan. 1, 2008.
