Siemens Automation and Drives has released the Simatic ET 200iSP distributed I/O system that is intrinsically safe and designed for use in hazardous areas. The I/O can be installed in a control box in gaseous atmospheres up to Zone 1 as well as in dust atmospheres up to Zone 21. Actuators and sensors can be located in up to Zone 0 and Zone 20, respectively. The system offers the complete redundancy of the Profibus connection and power supply.
