Long-life Molykote chain oils are available from Dow Corning. Extended chain life is made possible due to the use of synthetic-based formulations that resist emulsification and a tackifier that prevents dripping and throw-off from spinning chains. The tackifier also helps prevent corrosion by adhering the oil to metal surfaces without thickening the oil or compromising its lubricity, while permitting it to penetrate chain interiors to lubricate pins, bushings and side plates. Chain oil L-1460FG is a blend of polyalpha olefin (PAO) synthetic oil and ultra-high-purity mineral oils designed for high wash-down applications at room temperature. Designed for chain applications in blast freezers below minus 18C (0F), chain oil L-1468FG is a neat PAO that has a pour point of minus 51C (minus 60F). These two chain oils are part of the Molykote Total Industrial Lubrication Consolidation Program.
