During a two-week summer shutdown last year, Maska moved its equipment from its old facility to a new plant, which had been constructed in two phases, one starting in 1997 and the other in 1999.
A rigging company, Tremblay Transport of Drummondville, Que., handled the job. The company moves equipment from plant to plant and also does some of the on-site levelling work.
The machines were prepared by blocking the movement of certain pieces before they were transported. For multiple pieces of machinery that worked together, the positions of the pieces were measured so they could be set up in the new plant in exactly the same way as in the old plant.
A week was dedicated to making sure the equipment was in running order.
