C-MORE explains spares management software at SMRP Ontario Chapter meeting
The Society of Maintenance and Reliability Professionals Ontario Chapter held its spring meeting at the University of Toronto's Centre for Maintenance Optimization and Reliability Engineering (C-MORE). The keynote presentation, delivered by C-MORE's director, Michael Jong Kim, PhD, highlighted various ways to determine critical and emergency spares management.
Kim, who is also an assistant professor in the Department of Mechanical & Industrial Engineering, explained that the C-MORE has developed a software tool, SMS (Spares Management Software) to perform instantaneous and interval reliability calculations. To date, the spares management software package has been tested in utilities and mining industry projects.
SMS is one of two software packages developed by C-MORE; the other is EXAKT, a condition-based maintenance optimizer. As a next step, C-MORE hopes to integrate the two software applications.
