WSPS Certification Part One e-course

Workplace Safety & Prevention Services has released an improved Certification Training Part One e-course. In this online course, joint health & safety committee (JHSC) members acquire health and safety fundamentals at their own pace and with the online support of a WSPS consultant as well as an interactive discussion board.

Participants learn about the JHSC’s legal functions and powers, as well as the role of certified members. This includes employer, supervisor and worker responsibilities, and a worker’s right to refuse unsafe work the 4 steps to workplace health and safety: hazard recognition, assessment, control, and evaluation the legislative requirements of a JHSC, the functions and powers of its members, and how to maximize committee effectiveness how to conduct effective workplace inspections and the legal requirements for reporting and investigating fatalities and critical injuries

The e-course takes 1-2 days to complete and meets Ontario Ministry of Labour Standards for Part One training. Members then complete Part Two to become fully certified.
