Schaumburg, IL – Rittal Corporation, a manufacturer of electrical enclosures and expert in the thermal management of electrical, electronic and IT equipment, has opened a new customer service centre dedicated to the oil and gas industry. Its Oil and Gas Competency Center, located in Houston, TX, enables customers and engineering firms to do system engineering, training and project management at the centre.
“Our customers will be able to see the products in our state-of-the art showroom and design a system right here in the facility,” said Jim Barth, Rittal regional sales director. “They will be supported by our solution and sales engineering team, allowing them to have hands-on access to Rittal products to ensure the design is complete. They’ll not only be able to ensure a good fit, but they’ll understand how it’s assembled and see how it works.”
This is Rittal’s first competency centre outside of Germany. Its location in Houston is strategic, in order to take advantage of Houston’s heavy concentration of engineering firms in the oil and gas industry. In addition to the competency centre showroom, the complex includes two large training rooms, a hands-on room for assembling various components, and a Rittal automation system installation – which offers the ability to modify enclosures and cutouts for assembly.
Essential for services such as exploration and production, transportation and storage, refining or processing, the enclosures optimize physical work spaces and minimize the damaging effects caused by tough operating conditions in oil and gas industry environments. These include offshore oil rigs that must be equipped to withstand persistent exposure to saltwater to petrochemical processing plants that must minimize chemical exposure and associated risks.
The company’s Canadian operation, Rittal Systems Ltd., is based in Mississauga, ON. North American manufacturing is done by Rittal Corporation of Schaumburg, IL, a subsidiary of German firm Rittal GmbH & Co. KG.
