A highlight of the evening was the guest presentation by Mike Schultz, VP of Asset Performance Group, who spoke about the Seven Rules of RCM (reliability centered maintenance). Schultz facilitated the asset hierarchy overhaul of more than 400,000 location codes, an undertaking that reinforces his extensive CMMS and software experience during his tenure at Dofasco.
Attendees were able to test their understanding of the seven rules of RCM, proactive versus reactive maintenance, what a typical program looks like, and examine the idea that equipment failure is typically due to end of life (only 11 per cent of failures can be attributed to this cause).
The Society for Maintenance & Reliability Professionals (SMRP) is a nonprofit professional society comprised of practitioners who are committed to the advancement of the reliability and physical asset management industry.
