September 4, 2014 – A decade ago the Computerized Maintenance Management Systems was an ROI (return on investment), equipment safety and performance optimization tool reserved for large, capital-intensive companies. This was because expensive power generating turbines, for example, were required to run for as long as they could in a safe manner and at the peak of their performance. In this type of company, it is widely accepted that the effort in time and money that goes into configuring and using a CMMS system results in large overall savings because the equipment does run better and for a longer time with gains that vastly offset the global CMMS investment.
