From 1990 through 1994, Palmer was responsible for overhauling the existing maintenance planning organization. The resulting success played a role in expanding planning to all crafts and stations owned and operated by the utility. Publisher McGraw-Hill subsequently sought out Palmer to author the Maintenance Planning and Scheduling Handbook, published in 1999 and now in its third edition (2013). Palmer also directed the purchase and implementation of a CMMS and administered the preventive maintenance program. Additionally, he has written numerous maintenance articles and delivered many presentations for industry.

He is a registered professional engineer with a master’s degree in business administration. He is also a Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional. Currently Palmer provides guidance, mentoring and training for companies internationally for maintenance planning success.

Why pursue the CMRP designation?

The Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP) program is the #1 credentialing program for certifying the knowledge, skills and experience of M&R professionals. It’s more than just committing textbooks to memory; it’s a thorough examination of individual expertise measured against a universal standard. The deadline to register for the exam is Thursday, September 25, 2014. Register by e-mailing Allan Hines at ahines@predictiveservice.com.

Nominations are being accepted for the 2014-2015 SMRP Ontario Board of Directors. For more information or to nominate yourself or someone, e-mail carlo@consciousasset.com.
