July 17, 2013 – Chevron has expanded its line of Cetus-branded compressor oils with the PAO and rebranded HiPerSYN, which are formulated for use in a range of applications, including portable and stationary rotary screw, rotary vane and reciprocating compressors. Cetus PAO oils are synthetic air compressor lubricants formulated with polyalphaolefin (PAO) base fluids. They promise thermal and oxidation stability, high viscosity index, high flash point, low pour point and hydrolytic stability while protecting against rust, oxidation and foaming. HiPerSYN oils are designed to meet the needs of most air compressor applications, especially those with wide operating temperature ranges that may challenge non-synthetic oils. These higher viscosity grade products are especially effective in high temperature applications, says Chevron, such as industrial bearings and gears requiring R&O-type synthetic gear oil and sootblowers.
