July 16, 2013 – Detector Electronics Corp. (Det-Tronics), which is part of UTC Climate, Controls & Security, says its new FlexSonic acoustic gas leak detector is designed to withstand harsh environments and, according to the company, is “the first non-contact gas leak detector of its kind that recognizes unique ultrasound fingerprints”. The detector analyzes 24 discrete ultrasonic bands, ignoring nuisance ultrasonic sources. A high-fidelity microphone continuously monitors for the distinct ultrasound emitted by pressurized gas leaks across a wide spectrum of frequencies. For noisy applications, the FlexSonic learns both regularly occurring and random sounds, detecting the actual acoustic gas leak signature.
