Glen Ellyn, IL – The Bearing Specialists Association (BSA) Past Presidents Council recognized the many contributions and support of participating manufacturer Bob Daniel, formerly general sales manager – North American distribution at The Timken Company and currently general manager – business communications at the same company.
Daniel was an active BSA participating manufacturer for more than a decade. The presentation was made at the association’s 2013 Annual Convention May 4-7 at the Westin Hilton Head Island Resort and Spa on Hilton Head Island, SC.
Daniel served on the association’s Industry Communications, Distributor/Manufacturer Relations and Long-Range Convention Planning Committees and was the first Manufacturer Liaison for the Long-Range Convention Planning Committee. He also participated on the International Opportunities Task Force and the Value of Distribution White Paper Task Force. He and his wife, Diana, served on the 2007 and 2009 Convention Planning Committees. His support of BSA and authorized distribution has been a significant contribution to the industry for which the association is appreciative.
Not surprisingly, Daniel has many contributions beyond the industry. He served in the United States Marine Corp from 1967 to 1969 and spent 13 months on combat tour as a forward observer in Vietnam. He is active with several veteran-related initiatives, including the Brecksville and Wade Park, VA, hospitals; participates in Ghost Riders, which is associated with the Post Traumatic Stress Disorder Foundation; and the Valor Home of Summit County. He is a United Way account executive and celebrity chef for Stark County Hunger Task Force.
Daniel joined The Timken Company on May 28, 1974, as a part-time mail clerk. Since then he has held positions in quality control, scheduling and inventory control, pricing administration, competitive intelligence and general sales manager – North American distribution management. Both Bob’s father and stepfather worked at Timken, so he is a second-generation employee.
BSA is the “must belong to organization for authorized bearing distributors.” An international service and educational organization of distributors representing a total of almost 100 companies distributing factory-warranted, anti-friction bearings and invited manufacturers of bearings and related products, the association’s mission says, “BSA is the forum to enhance networking and knowledge sharing and promote the sale of bearings through authorized distributors.” For more information on BSA contact the BSA office at 630-858-3838; e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org or visit the association website at http://www.bsahome.org/.
